McDonnell: We Deserved The Win

St Patrick's Athletic boss John McDonnell was delighted with the performance registered by his team in their 1-0 win over Bohemians on Friday evening.

The Super Saints are currently top of table with six point gained from two games, and their manager believes that they fully deserved their latest victory.

McDonnell knew that it was always going to be a tough game considering they were playing away in Dalymount Park against a rival side that they had not beaten for some time.

So the victory tasted even sweeter as Pat's escaped with the three points thanks to an excellent long-range strike from midfielder dynamo Keith Fahey.

"Overall I think we created the best clear cut chances," stated McDonnell.

"We said from the start that we didn't want to concede a goal and obviously we wanted to get something from the game. From start to finish our work rate was fantastic all over the pitch.

"They came at us for ten-fifteen minutes, but I think we created more chances.

"Overall, to come over here and keep a clean sheet and take the three points, it's a great night's work. To come here and get something would have been good, but to get three points is fantastic."
