St Patrick’s Athletic manager John McDonnell has revealed that the club will lay a new playing surface at Richmond Park inside the next few weeks in a bid to increase the space for their potent wide men.
The Super Saints have made a fine start to the new season, nestling amongst the top four sides in the country at the top of the table.
And by the time they play at home again on June 23rd, there will be even more open space for their forward players to exploits.
He said: “We’re trying to widen the pitch. That’s going to happen over the next few weeks. It will suit us better with the wide players we have, with Mark Rutherford to come back and Seanie O’Connor on the other wing.
“We’ve got 17 points from the ten games so far, and if we can win our next game we make it 20 from the first eleven games – if we repeat that over the three sets of eleven games, you’re not going to be too far off the pace.”
