The schedule of the semi-finals of the Setanta Sports Cup have become slightly complicated by the ongoing fixture problems in the IFA Cup regarding Linfield.
Fixture congestion in the North means that Linfield will play their Setanta semi-final on Monday, 30th April regardless of whether they win the group or not.
Should Linfield win group 1 (which they would be favourites to do) then the schedule will go ahead as planned with Linfield likely to face Cork City at Windsor Park on the last day of April.
In that event then Saint Patrick's Athletic would host either Drogheda United or Derry City on Monday, 23rd April in the first semi-final.
However, if Linfield are knocked off the top of group 1 then the semi-finals are reversed with the Saints at home to Linfield on 30th April.
Competition officials have also confirmed that although suspensions can be carried into the semi-finals, any players carrying one booking into the knockout phase will have their records wiped clean.
Setanta Ireland will screen the group deciders live next week. Cork City's home game with Dungannon Swifts will be shown live on Monday, 16th April with a 7:45pm kick off while Drogheda's home game against Derry will be shown live at 8:05pm on Tuesday, 17th April.
Cork City need simply to avoid losing by seven goals or more to claim second place in group 2. Top spot has already gone to St. Pats.
The group 2 picture is much more clouded. Linfield are through and can guarantee top spot with a win over Glentoran. Meanwhile, Derry City must beat Drogheda United by two clear goals to claim second place. The Drogs could yet claim first place in the group if they were to beat Derry and Linfield failed to win.
