Having started his youth career with Donnycarney United, Adam played for Belvedere FC from U8 to U15 and joined St Pat's from Belvedere in January 2020.

He quickly progressed through The Saints Academy, captaining our U15s initially, before appearing for our U17s and U19s across the last couple of seasons.

Murphy signed his first professional contract as a 16-year-old in July 2021 and is combining full time football with full time education and will sit his Leaving Cert this summer (June 2023).

Adam captained our U19s in the UEFA Youth League against Red Star Belgrade during the 2021 season and was also part of the squad that won the EA Sports U19 League title last season (2022), our U19s also made it to the Enda McGuill U19 Cup Final.

He made his senior debut off the bench against Sligo Rovers in the second game of last season, and also featured as a sub against Drogheda United before making his first league start vs Dundalk in April, live on RTE 2, becoming the youngest ever starter in the modern era on what was his 17th birthday. (Sam Curtis has since become our youngest ever starter with Adam now the second youngest)

He unfortunately suffered a hamstring injury in that game in the 21st minute and underwent surgery in the UK, missing a number of months before returning off the bench against Shelbourne in the final game of last season.

Adam is an Ireland underage international, and has been capped at U15, U16, U17 and U18 level so far.

Signed for Bristol City at the end of the 2023 season.
