SAINTS CALLED UP FOR FRIENDLY INTERNATIONAL

NOEL HAVERTY AND DEREK FORAN join up with Ireland's U18 squad for this weekend's friendly international against Malta.

The current St Pat's U17s players are part of an 18-man panel comprised of players currently playing their football within schoolboy leagues around the country and the eircom Under-21 league.

U18 manager Sean McCaffrey is presently in Hungary with the U17 International squad so FAI Player Development Manager John Morling will be in charge for the game.

"Most of the lads have been involved in the FAI's 'Emerging Talent Programme', which was piloted in three Regional centres around the country last season and they have been selected on merit based on assessments of their training and match performance." explained Morling.

“The Malta game is an opportunity for them to stake a claim for recognition ahead of next year's UEFA U19 qualifying series,” continued Morling. "This is a full International and for most of the squad, it will be their first Irish cap."
