THE MATCH

  • A first away trip of the 2025 SSE Airtricity Men's League of Ireland season awaits for St Patrick's Athletic on Friday night.
  • Eamonn Deacy Park is the venue for the game against Galway United, kick-off is at 7.45pm and the match will be live on Virgin Media 2 TV and the Virgin Media Player, with live radio commentary on Off The Ball on Newstalk.








  • LAST TIME OUT
  • The Saints began the new league campaign with a scoreless draw against Drogheda United at Richmond Park last Friday.
  • The home side had chances to win it, and had a Zack Elbouzedi header ruled out for offside in the second-half, replays showed the winger was in an onside position when the ball was crossed.
  • A crowd of just over 5,000 was in attendance in Inchicore.

  • 18/10/24 - Aidan Keena scored twice in a 2-1 victory at Richmond Park in October.







    STAT ATTACK:
  • St Pat's won three of their four meetings with Galway United last season.
  • Jay McClelland was on target on their most recent visit to Eamonn Deacy Park in a 1-1 draw last August while a Jamie Lennon strike helped Pat's to a 1-0 victory in Galway on the opening night of the 2024 season.
  • This will be the 84th LOI meeting of these teams and the 44th in Galway. Pat's have won 40, Galway have won 22 with the other 21 games ending all square.



    DID YOU KNOW:
  • Before that meeting on the opening night of 2024, the last league match between these sides was in October 2017, Billy Dennehy was on target in a 1-1 draw.



    MAGIC MOMENT:
  • 2015 - St Pat's won the 2015 EA Sports Cup by beating Galway United on penalties (4-3) after a 0-0 draw. Goalkeeper Conor O'Malley was the shootout hero.







    OPPOSITION WATCH:
  • Galway United began their campaign with a thrilling 2-2 draw at Cork City last Friday.
  • Having won the First Division in 2023, they finished the 2024 season in 5th position in the LOI Premier Division.
  • Ex Saint Brendan Clarke is Galway United's goalkeeper. Clarke won a League title (2013), an FAI Cup (2014) and two League Cups (2015 and 2016) during his time in Inchicore. Midfielder Conor McCormack spent 18 months at St Pat's from January 2014 to July 2015.

  • Manager Stephen Kenny has been looking forward to the game and playing in front of a sold-out away end: "It's tremendous commitment from the St Patrick's Athletic supporters, to travel to Galway on a Friday evening in tough weather conditions and getting there travel wise. The level of passion is really great, the players really feel it, that's important and we need to have that every week, we need to find that ourselves and also from the terraces we need to feel it to propel us on to good things."

  • Midfielder Kian Leavy (ankle) remains out while defender Sean Hoare will also miss the game with a knock.
