Romal Palmer Pens New Two Year Deal

There was some more good news from Richmond Park on Monday afternoon, as Romal Palmer signed a new two-year contract.

Palmer initially joined St Pat's on loan from Turkish side Göztepe on February 10th ahead of the 2024 season. Romal played 33 times in the Turkish TFF First League before joining The Saints.

The 26-year-old made 25 appearances during his first season in Inchicore, scoring three times, including two crucial goals in our UEFA Conference League run during the Summer.

The midfielder spent 10 years in the Manchester City Academy before joining Barnsley in 2017, the made 70 appearances in the EFL Championship between 2019 and 2022 before moving to Turkey in July 2022.

Palmer said:

"It feels amazing, signing a new deal has been in the works for a while now, it was a no brainer for me really.

The way that I was received by everyone when I joined last season, The Gaffer Stephen Kenny coming in helped me a lot, confidence wise and building me up and I feel like that is what I need at this point of my career, to get back playing games and try to be the best version of myself and I feel like I can do that at St Pat's."

It's a brilliant club. I can't wait to be back at Richmond to see all the fans and push on from there."

Manager Stephen Kenny is delighted with todays news:

"Romal had a really positive impact on the team when he came back from his long-term injury, and scored two crucial European goals against Vaduz and Sabah.

He's a brilliant midfield player, with a high level of technical ability, combined with a really strong work ethic.

Romal has an infectious personality, he's already become an integral part of the fabric of the group, he's a joy to coach and his individual skill level is great to witness every day.

If he can stay fit, Romal can have a real impact on the season ahead."

Director of Football Ger O'Brien has also welcomed today's announcement:

"We are delighted that Romal has signed a new contract. He is an incredibly talented player and a fantastic person.

Romal's relationship with everyone at the club from The Manager to the staff to his team-mates and especially our supporters is very important to him, and we are very happy that he has decided to commit his future to St Patrick's Athletic for the next couple of years."
