Arran Pettifer Is A Saint
Jon Daly continues to build his St Patrick's Athletic squad with the signing of Arran Pettifer from Bolton Wanderers.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who has been training us for the last few weeks, joins us on a permanent deal.
Pettifer featured in the recent pre-season wins against Cork City and Drogheda United and could make his competitive debut for the club in the Leinster Senior Cup tomorrow.
Arran, who is from Stockport, joined the Bolton Wanderers Academy when he was 8, and progressed through the ranks there to sign his first professional contract in the summer of 2022, he made two senior appearances for The Trotters.
St Patrick's Athletic's Adam Courtney spoke to Arran shortly after today's 2024 season photoshoot at Richmond Park, he told us who it feels to be joining the club.
"I'm delighted to be here, it's a massive club in Ireland and it's a brilliant move for me at this stage of my career.
I've been looking for an opportunity to move into senior football and once I heard Pat's were interested, it was a no brainer to come here.
I joined Bolton when I was 8 and went all the way up through the ranks there and had some first team experience too in terms of training and being in squads.
I went away with the First Team for pre-season and was on the bench in the league a couple of times and played in the Papa Johns Trophy, so I've had really good experiences there and I'm looking forward to the next steps in my career now with St Pat's.
My time at the club so far has been excellent, I've settled in well living with a couple of the lads, we had a team bonding day Go Karting during the week, we've just done the photoshoot which was good and I've been training and played in two of the pre-season games, all the lads have been really good with me so it's gone well so far.
We are all looking forward to the start of the season."

Manager Jon Daly added:
"We are delighted that Arran sees the next step in his development with us at St Pat's.
He comes with a great schooling at Bolton Wanderers and has some fantastic attributes that we feel will help the team and squad as a whole as we head into the new season in a couple of weeks.
He's the type of player we've been looking to add to the squad and he's done really well in training and in the games he's played in.
We've got a really good group and Arran has settled in well so far, along with our other new recruits, we're looking forward to working with him."
