Aaron Bolger Joins St Pat's

St Patrick's Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Aaron Bolger on a multi-year contract.

The 23-year-old arrives at Richmond Park after two-and-a-half seasons at Cork City, and links up with his former City teammate Ruairi Keating in Inchicore.

Having been part of a very successful St Joseph's Boys schoolboy side, which also featured Joe Redmond and Brandon Kavanagh, Bolger began his League of Ireland career with Shamrock Rovers, making his Premier Division debut as a 16-year-old during the 2016 season.

He joined Cardiff City on loan in February 2019 before signing for Cardiff on a permanent deal and then returning on loan to Shamrock Rovers and then Longford Town during his two years with the Walsh club.

The Ireland underage international, who was named Ireland U17 International Player of the Year in 2018, returned home and signed for Cork City in July 2021, and was part of their First Division title win in 2022, being named in the PFAI First Division Team of the Year and Cork City Player of the Year in the process.

He made 36 appearances for City last season (2023), 31 of them in the Premier Division.

Bolger is delighted to be a Super Saint

"I'm over the moon to sign for St Pat's, it's a massive club, when I heard there was interest I was really excited about the opportunity.

I spoke to Jon Daly a couple of times and he put his plans across, everything he said was bang on, he looks like a really good Manager and he is someone I'm really excited to work under.

The midfield in Pat's is really really strong but I'm looking forward to getting in with the boys and getting going. St Pat's play a really attractive brand of football and I'm also someone who looks to get the ball down and play nice football.

Pat's had a really good year, in the cup and in the league, with Europe to come next year, we'll want to retain the cup again and go one step closer in the League so it's going to be a really exciting season for the club and I'm happy to be part of that now."

Manager Jon Daly added:

"We're really pleased that Aaron has joined us, especially given the interest in him from a number of clubs.

He is an excellent midfield player and someone who we've been keeping close tabs on for the last couple of years.

He'll fit in well with the group and will add good competition for places in that department of the pitch.

At 23, Aaron has got good experience and has played a high number of games in the League of Ireland.

I'm delighted to welcome him to the club and am looking forward to working with him."
