Grivosti Extends Contract

St Patrick's Athletic are delighted to announce that defender Tom Grivosti has signed a contract extension.

Grivosti joined The Saints on a permanent transfer from Scottish Premier League side Ross County at the beginning of the 2022 season, so will be heading into third campaign at Richmond Park.

Tom has made 44 appearances for the club and has scored twice so far, including a Goal of the Season contender away to Derry City in a 2-1 defeat in Aprli 2022, he also started all four of our UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers during the 2022 season, featuring in 36 matches last season (2022).

The 24-year-old made eight appearances in 2023 due to two serious injuries.

A torn hamstring against Bohemians on March 10th kept him out for two months before his return to action in May, he unfortunately ruptured his anterior cruciate knee ligament in the 2-1 win against Dundalk on May 26th.

Tom's operation was successful and he is well into the recovery and rehabilitation process with our medical and fitness staff, let by Sam Rice, David Mugalu, Christy O’Neill and Paul McGrath.

Grivosti is delighted to be heading into his third season as a Saint:

"I'm really happy to have signed a new contract with the club and I'm buzzing to get back on the pitch at Richmond Park.

I've loved by time at Pat's so far and have some brilliant memories, especially playing in the European games last season and some of the big nights we've had in Inchicore.

The supporters have been amazing and I love playing in front of them, I'm very settled at the club and living in Dublin, and I'm excited for 2024.

I've obviously had a couple of bad injuries over the last while, I'm working really hard with Sam, Paul and the rest of the staff to be back on the pitch as soon as possible.

Everyone at the club has been so good to me since my injuries and have really looked out for me and looked after me, from the Manager and the staff and all of my teammates keeping me involved and around the squad, giving me lifts to physio and treatment when I couldn't drive, it's been incredible and I want to thank them.

All of the non football staff who work in the club too who've been brilliant with me, the volunteers and supporters, asking after me and keeping an eye on me, it's a really special club, I've loved being here for the last two years and can't wait for what's to come."

Before joining The Super Saints, the Liverpudlian had been on loan in Scottish League Two with Elgin City.

Tom spent eight years with his local team MSB Woolton in Liverpool before joining the Bolton Wanderers' Academy in 2011 where he spent six years.

He joined Scottish Championship club Ross County in 2018, making his debut in August, he made almost 30 appearances for Ross County and won the Scottish Championship title and the Scottish Challenge Cup (2018-2019 season). Tom played 11 times for them in the Scottish Premiership before his loan move to Elgin.

Manager Jon Daly said:

"We're delighted that Tom has signed a new contract and we're looking forward to working with him again.

He has shown during his time with us that he is one of the best centre-backs in the country and has been an excellent player for St Pat's over the last couple of years.

Tom was very unlucky with hamstring and knee injuries last season, he has been working hard with our medical and conditioning teams on his rehab and recovery and we're looking forward to seeing him back on the pitch in 2024"
