Head To Head

Derry City sit second in the table as we approach the one third mark of the season, they've collected 19 points from their 11 matches so far, they are two points ahead of tomorrow's opponents.

Debutant Colm Whelan was on target in their 3-1 victory at Cork City last Friday with Ronan Boyce and Michael Duffy also on the scoresheet.

Ruaidhri Higgins' side are five points behind leaders Bohemians, and after facing St Pat's on Friday, they'll host Shamrock Rovers on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Saints will be back at home on Monday against Sligo Rovers.

These sides have faced off once already this season and they shared the spoils on the opening night in Inchicore.

Jordan McEneff had put the Candystripes ahead before skipper Joe Redmond levelled things up from a corner two minutes from time.

This will be the 112th meeting of Derry City and St Pat's in the League, in the games at the Ryan McBride Brandywell last season, Derry won one (2-1) while the other ended scoreless.

Manager Tim Clancy said:

"We know the importance of bouncing back after a disappointing result last weekend and we'll be aiming for a positive result up in Derry.

It's another huge game for us and our focus is on going up there to win. They had a big win themselves in Cork and they'll be looking to back that up but we'll be heading up ourselves looking to get back to winning ways."

Thijs Timmermans has also been helping us preview the game, you can watch our interview with the Dutch midfielder on our YouTube channel:

"We are looking forward to the weekend with games on Friday and Monday but for now our eyes are on Derry.

They are a good side and we know we'll have to be very good on Friday, and from what I've seen in training this week we are in a good place and hopefully we can carry that into the match and pick up the three points.

We know about Derry, we've done video and prepared on the training pitch, we know their strengths and their weaknesses so we'll be aiming to do everything we can to win the game and get a good result."
