O'Reilly Named Women's U17s Head Coach

St Patrick's Athletic are delighted to confirm the appointment of Darragh O'Reilly as our first ever Women's National League U17s Head Coach.

This will not be the first time that O'Reilly has worked with The Saints.

He was our U17 Assistant Manager for three and a half seasons from July 2015 to August 2018, helping the club to win our first ever U17 League of Ireland title in 2016.

Darragh departed the Saints Academy in the summer of 2018 and moved to Thailand to become Bangkok FC's U15 & U19 Head Coach.

He has also coached in Mexico with West Ham United Mexico and spent time as Technical Co-Ordinator of the Metropolitan Girls League.

Darragh worked as Director of Coaching at Belvedere FC from 2015 to 2017 and more recently as 1st Team Coach with DLR Waves in the Women's National League for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

O'Reilly is a UEFA 'A' Licence and UEFA 'Youth Elite A' Licence Coach, with a Degree in Sports Management, he joins us after spending last season as Head Coach of Sligo Rovers U17s.

Academy Manager Ger O'Brien has been telling us more:

"We are delighted to welcome Darragh back to the club, he is a perfect fit for the role and will be a wonderful addition to our Academy staff as Head Coach of our first ever Women's National League U17 team.

Darragh is a highly qualified coach and his knowledge of the game and ability to work with and develop young players is there for all the see.

Our work has already begun on putting together the squad for the new season and that will continue over the coming weeks as we get ready for the 2023 season to begin in the new year.

Myself and everyone at St Pat's and our partner club Cherry Orchard would like to wish Darragh all the best in his new position."

O'Reilly added:

"I'm really happy to be back at the club and excited about my new role.

This is the first time that St Pat's have had a Women's U17 team in the League of Ireland and I'm delighted to be been appointed as Head Coach.

I've had some very positive and productive meetings with Ger O'Brien and others at the club already regarding plans for the squad and the season overall and we'll be continuing that work right up to the start of pre-season and beyond.

It's an exciting time for the women's game in Ireland, the Women's National League at both senior and academy levels is going from strength to strength, the Women's National Team are heading to the World Cup and the overall interest in and development of the women's game is really on the up.

We're looking forward to being part of that moving forward at St Pat's and I can't wait for the new season to begin!"

Expressions of interest for our Women's National League U17s for the 2023 season should be emailed to darragh.oreilly@stpatsfc.com and ger.obrien@stpatsfc.com, general queries should also be sent to the above email addresses please. We'll provide more details in due course.
