We are delighted to confirm the signing of Serge Atakayi from Finnish club Seinajoen Jalkapallokerho (SJK) for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old has signed an 18-month contract at Richmond Park and goes straight into the squad for tonight's game against Dundalk.

Atakayi was born in Congo but applied for asylum in Finland when he was 11, becomng a Finnish citizen in 2016.

Serge joined the FF Jaro Academy in 2013 before making his senior debut in 2015.

He is the youngest scorer in Finnish top flight history, having netted against HIFK aged 16 years and 107 days.

He joined Rangers in August 2016 and made his first team debut in a 7-1 win against Motherwell during the 2018 season, but unfortunately broke his ankle in that match.

Atakayi left Rangers in Decemebr 2019 to return to Finland and sign back for SJK, he has most recently been on loan with TPS for the second-half of last season, where he worked under current St Pat's Assistant Manager Jon Daly.

Daly is delighted to welcome Atakayi to the club:

"I have known of Serge for a number of years from his time in Scotland and have worked with him recently in Finland.

He is at a great age, he wants to improve and get better on a daily basis and is the type of player and person we want at the football club.

Serge is a player who i think the fans will enjoy watching and we are looking forward to welcoming him to the group and the club."
