Teenager Sam Rooney scored in extra-time as St Patrick's Athletic came from 2-0 down to knock Club Orange FAI Cup holders Shamrock Rovers out in a thrilling third round tie at Richmond Park.
Jonathan Afolabi and Michael Noonan had the Hoops in command at half-time, despite the home side having the majority of the chances.
But Luke Turner began a fightback and a controversial stoppage-time penalty awarded to Aidan Keena was converted by the Saints front man. Goalkeeper Ed McGinty came agonisingly close to keeping it out.
The 17-year-old Rooney converted early in the first period of extra-time in what proved the final goal of the afternoon, as a miserable week for Stephen Bradley's side ended by relinquishing their hold on the cup.
