Academy Teams Progress To Elite Phase

All of our St Patrick's Athletic academy teams have qualified for the elite phase of the EA Sports Underage National Leagues.

The U15s have won 8 of their 9 matches so far in the first league phase, our U17s have picked up 6 victories in their 7 matches to date while the U19s made it to the elite phase with a comprehensive 5-0 win at home Waterford at the weekend.

The U15s have scored 31 and conceded 14 in their nine matches, they won their opening 8 matches before their 100% record was taken after a 1-1 draw away to Bohemians last Friday night. They've got one league match to go before the cup group phase begins against Longford Town, Derry City and Athlone Town.

The elite phase of the league will begin in early July after the Junior Certificate.

The U17s continued their good start to the season with a 4-1 win away to Athlone Town on Saturday afternoon. They had won their first four matches before a 4-3 defeat at Klub Kildare. They bounced back from that defeat with a 2-1 Dublin derby win at home to Bohemians and that victory in Athlone. They are joint top of the table with UCD, but have a game in hand. They'll face Longford Town (twice) after the international break before facing UCD in a top of the table clash at the end of the month.

Their cup campaign will see them face Derry City, Athlone Town and Longford Town before the league elite phase begins in July after the Leaving Cert.

Our U19s have been drawn in the cup phase against Bray Wanderers, Cork City and Waterford with their opening game in Cork this Sunday.

They qualified to the elite league phase thanks to a 5-0 home win against Waterford on Saturday afternoon. A number of our U19s train full time with the first team and have been involved in matchday squads across the season so far, proving the academy player pathway in place at the club, 11 current or former Academy players are on professional contracts with the club.

The top 5 in each of the 2 U19 groups qualify for a 10 team Premier Division which will begin in July.

As for our U14s, they've been playing a number of friendlies in preparation for the beginning of their EA Sports next month, they'll start their cup series against Dundalk, Longford Town and Shelbourne in late June after the exam break.
