Preview: Saints Vs Shamrock Rovers (04/03/22)

All eyes will be on Richmond Park on Friday evening as St Patrick's Athletic welcome Shamrock Rovers to Inchicore.

The game will kick off at 7.45pm.

This match will sell out, a small number of home tickets remain HERE, the game will also be live on LOITV.

It was disappointment at Dalymount for St Pat's on Monday night as a Stephen Mallon strike just after half-time was enough to secure a 1-0 victory for Bohemians.

Tim Clancy's men will be aiming to bounce back on Friday evening in another tasty Dublin derby.

Opposition Watch and Recent Meetings

Shamrock Rovers have started the season with two wins and one defeat.

Stephen Bradley's men began with a 3-0 win against UCD before losing 1-0 in Derry. Last time out, they were 3-1 winners over Drogheda United in Tallaght.

Sean Gannon and Jack Byrne put Rovers 2-0 to the good, but Evan Weir gave the Drogheda faithful hope with a goal midway through the second-half.

However, Rovers finished strongly, with Graham Burke adding a third.

The sides have met already in 2022 already in the President's Cup final.

Eoin Doyle broke the deadlock but Shamrock Rovers equalised through Ronan Finn.

The teams could not be separated in normal time and Shamrock Rovers ran out 5-4 winners on penalties.

They faced off on four occasions last season with Shamrock Rovers winning three, the clash on the opening night of the season ended 1-1 after late goals from both sides.

View From The Dugout:

Manager Tim Clancy spoke to our Youtube channel ahead of tomorrow night:

"It's going to be a tough game, our results last weekend against Sligo and Bohs were not great, we're looking for a better performance on Friday against Shamrock Rovers. It looks like it will be a sell out again so we are looking forward to it. Our fans have been brilliant so far and we'll be looking to give them something to cheer about this week."

The fans have been great and have really come out in their numbers to support us and hopefully we can reward them tomorrow with a win."
