McClelland Signs New Contract
St Patrick's Athletic are delighted to announce that Jason McClelland has signed a new contract with the club.
The winger made over 100 appearances for UCD AFC, winning a First Division title there in 2018 before signing for St Pat's at the start of the 2020 campaign.
He'll be heading into his third season as a Super Saint in 2022.
McClelland made 27 appearances last term, scoring three times.
The 24-year-old's most famous goal so far in the colours of St Patrick's Athletic, came just last month during our penalty shootout win against Bohemians in the FAI Cup Final.
Jay is delighted to be back at Richmond Park:
"I'm delighted to have signed back for the club. I've really enjoyed my two years here so far and am looking forward to pushing on again.
Scoring in the shootout a few weeks ago was a great moment for me, it was a fantastic day for all of us, for the club and for our friends and families and of course for our supporters who are absolutely brilliant. They are the type of occasions and moments we want to be involved in.
I'm looking forward to playing under Tim and contributing to what will hopefully be another successful season."
Manager Tim Clancy says McClelland is always a player he's admired:
"I always liked Jay when we played against him in First Division when I was at Drogheda and he was at UCD. He can play in multiple positions, his delivery is excellent and he can also score goals. His penalty in the cup final was top drawer. He has also shown a great attitude and work rate and I'm delighted that he has signed back, myself and the staff are really looking forward to working with him."
