Pre-Season Result: City 1 - Saints 2

Pre-season 2021 began with a 2-1 win over Cork City on Sunday.

Ronan Coughlan opened the scoring in just the 5th minute on his first appearance for the club before a penalty from trialist Ronan Murray doubled the lead ten minutes into the second-half.

Ronan Hurley got one back for City with 20 minutes left.

The Saints, wearing all white on a beautiful afternoon in Blarney, started well, with Robbie Benson going close on two occasions.

Coughlan's volleyed goal came after good play by Jay McClelland before he had another goal ruled out for offside.

A good start to life at Richmond Park club for the former Sligo Rovers man!

Billy King's header just before the break was easily saved by Hunt in the Cork goal.

Lee Desmond's goal-bound effort was handled on the line by a Cork defender which gave Ronan Murray the opportunity to send the goalkeeper the wrong way to score from the spot and make it 2-0.

Hurley finished well from inside the box with 20 minutes left before St Pat's almost added a third through Kyle Robinson.

Head Coach Stephen O'Donnell will be pleased with a first outing of 2021 as his side looks forward to facing Wexford FC on Friday.
