FAI Cup Team News

St Patrick's Athletic will be aiming to reach the Quarter-Finals of the Extra.ie FAI Cup when they make the short trip to the UCD Bowl on Friday evening to face UCD, kick-off 7.45pm.

Pat's will be looking to build on their recent victories which has seen them pick up three wins on the bounce including results against Cork City, Bray Wanderers (Extra.ie First Round) and Sligo Rovers.

In team news, manager Harry Kenny will be without Republic of Ireland under 21 international Jamie Lennon through injury, while Mikey Drennan remains suspended. The Saints however are boosted by the return of both Ciaran Kelly and Conor Clifford from their respective bans.

For Pat's boss Kenny, Friday's Dublin derby presents itself as an opportunity to reach the last eight of the cup, however he outlined to stpatsfc.com that he expects the Students to put it up to his side based on the tight games between the sides this season.

"Friday is a great chance to progress in the cup and get in to the quarter-finals. We have had two wins against UCD already this season, but that being said, we know that they were both games that we had to work really hard for.

The last game was a really tight 1-0 win in the Bowl and we did well to get out with the points. They only had a few good wins a few weeks ago so UCD are very capable.

"They have brought in Maciej Tarnogrodzki as manager this week and he'll be looking for a reaction and performance from the players. It's a home tie for them so we know that with it being the cup, they will be looking at it as a one off with nothing to lose so we really need to be at it.

"We've played well in recent games and picking up wins is good for the confidence so we'll be aiming to get the game plan right, keep creating chances and hopefully we can take enough of them on Friday to get through to the next round."
