TEAM NEWS: Derry City Vs Saints (Friday, 7.45pm)

St Patrick's Athletic make the trip to the New Brandywell on Friday night when they face Derry City in the SSE Airtricity League (kick-off 7.45pm).

In team news, Kevin Toner comes into contention for selection after serving a one match suspension, while striker Christy Fagan misses out through a knee injury.

Reflecting on last week's victory against Limerick, Saints' manager Liam Buckley praised his players' efforts and character to come back from a goal deficit to win 2-1.

"Last week was a busy one for the players as with the Newcastle friendly followed quickly by the Limerick game, it was important that we got a result last Friday," he told stpatsfc.com.

"I felt we were the better side throughout and so to go a goal down and then show great desire and patience to keep going to the end, that really impressed me and the players deserve great credit for that. If we can show that mentality from now to the end of the season in our remaining fixtures, we will hopefully pick up a good few results."

Looking ahead to facing Derry, Buckley admitted that he expects a tight game with little separating the sides.

"We are one apiece against Derry this year. We had a great win at home and then were so unfortunate in the Brandywell earlier this season. They had a good performance in Europe last week so we know to expect a really difficult game from them. They are a good footballing side and Kenny Shiels will have them ready for it."
