EA Sports Cup Preview: St Pat's Vs Dundalk (Monday 7.45pm)
The Saints host Dundalk FC on Monday night in Richmond Park in the second round of the EA Sports Cup (kick-off 7.45pm).
The game takes place on Monday following last week's postponement as both sides look to advance to the last eight of the competition.
In team news, St Pat's manager Liam Buckley has no injury worries but will assess his squad closer to kick-off following Friday's 5-0 win over Bray Wanderers.
The match is a re-scheduled game pitting the winners of the last four years of the competition against each other with Dundalk having won the competition last year and in 2014, while the Saints lifted the EA Sports Cup in both 2015 and 2016.
"We are facing a very good Dundalk side on Monday who are on a great run of results lately," Buckley told stpatsfc.com. "They had a good win on Friday against Shamrock Rovers and now find themselves top of the table. We got a good 0-0 draw a few weeks back against them though so we are confident we can get another result."
"We are coming into the game off the back of a good win ourselves against Bray. In terms of selection, we'll be looking to balance things between maintaining our team and giving a few lads a chance to get some minutes. However whatever group of players goes out to play on Monday night, they will be looking to get a result and progress to the next round. Several of our group have experience of winning this competition, so we know that we have enough experience and talent in this group to win more silverware."
