Club Warned About Conduct Of Supporters
At its meeting on the 12th April 2006 the FAI Disciplinary Commission issued a warning to St Patrick's Athletic about the conduct of its supporters at matches. The warning comes as a result of the pitch incursion by a number of Saints fans in Sligo earlier this month.
Club secretary Stephen Connelly said "we explained to the Commission that our supporters are aware of the rules on pitch incursions and that such incursions are a rarity. We also highlighted the events leading up to the incursion, the awarding of a penalty to Sligo at the start of injury time and the subsequent late equaliser, which in a short time sent supporters feelings from one end of the scale to the other. I must also acknowledge the referee and his assistants who reported that the incursion was good natured and cleared quickly and at no time did they feel that they or the players were in any danger".
The Disciplinary Commission decided that no fine be imposed for the incursion but that the club be informed that any future incursions will result in a heavy fine.
