Saints Sign Ian Turner
St Patrick's Athletic are pleased to announce the signing of Ian Turner after the midfielder agreed to sign for the club for the remainder of the 2017 season.
28 year old Turner joins St Pat's having recently been in the ranks of Limerick, while in 2016 the midfielder featured for Cork City and was part of their FAI Cup campaign which ended in victory against Dundalk in the final.
Speaking to stpatsfc.com after completing his first training session with the Saints, Turner spoke of his delight to join Liam Buckley's side for the remainder of the season.
"Yeah I'm delighted to have the opportunity to join a club like St Pat's. It's a great move for me to link up with a club like Pat's and work with a manager like Liam Buckley. Everyone knows Liam likes his teams to play an attractive brand of football so I'm looking forward to training and playing with the club over the next few months," Turner admitted.
"From speaking to Liam, I think I can settle in to the squad well and I'm really looking forward to just getting out there as soon as possible and playing for Pat's. The team have really been on the up in recent weeks, so I'm looking forward to playing with the talented group of players at the club, and also help the team climb the league table as well as have a good run in the FAI Cup."
Reflecting on the addition of Turner to his squad, Buckley expressed his delight to add the Cork native. "Ian will be a great addition to our squad. We've strengthened the group recently and Ian will further complement the players we have here," the Saints' boss told stpatsfc.com.
"Ian has the ability to play in a number of positions and I feel he can do a job for us in a few places. We know he has done very well for both Limerick and Cork in recent years across defence and midfield, so we feel he can be a great addition."
Turner is expected to be available for the Saints in this Friday's SSE Airtricity League fixture away to Drogheda United in United Park (kick-off 7.45pm) subject to the processing of his registration.
