Jimmy 'Timber' Cummins RIP
It's with great sadness we learn the passing of Jimmy 'Timber' Cummins.
Jimmy Cummins joined St Pats in 1943-44 on the formation of a Minor team in the club. He captained the Minor team in 1944-45 to win the F.A.I. and A.U.L. Minor Cups, and be League Runners-up.
He also won winner's medals in the L.F.A. Junior and Saxone Cups that season. He became centrehalf on the first team the next season, a position he held until his severe and career ending injury on 22nd, April 1955 when representing the League of Ireland against The Irish League at Dalymount Park.
He was capped against the Scottish Junior and Lancahire Leagues and his successes with "The Saints" include L.F.A. Senior Cup winner 1947-48, four Leinster Senior League winner's medals, 1948, '49, '50' 51 and two winners and one runnerup Intermediate Cup medals.
He won a League of Ireland Championship medal in 1951-52, two President's Cup winner's medals and two Inter-League caps.
He was inducted into our Hall of Fame in a ceremony held in September 19th, 2009. He receives from Tony O'Donoghue at 1 minute 36s in the following video:
