Wins For Saints' U17's And U19's
It was a good day for the Saints' under 17 and under 19 sides as both sides recorded victories this weekend in their respective SSE Airtricity League fixtures over Athlone Town and Shelbourne.
The Saints' U19 side recorded a 1-0 victory over local rivals Shelbourne thanks to a goal from Republic of Ireland youth international Aidan Keena.
It proved to be a more comfortable victory for the Saints' U17's as another good performance saw them win 4-1 away to Athlone Town.
The Saints U17's raced into a 3-0 lead by half time with goals coming from Neill Byrne and John Martin (2), and while Athlone did pull a goal back in the second half, the Saints restored their three goal lead thanks to a deflected strike from Josh Hogan.
The victory leaves the Saints U17's with a 100% record of four wins from four, with 13 goals scored and just two conceded.
"We've been really good in all of the games and are looking forward to trying next weekend at home to Sligo," commented Saints' U17 manager Jamie Moore to stpatsfc.com following his side's 4-1 win on Sunday.
"We won four games from our first four at the start of last season but lost our fifth. We'll be aiming to beat Sligo next weekend and make it five in a row. If we do our stuff like we have been so far this season, we've a great chance to do that.
"We lost away to Sligo last season, they are a good team who look to pass the ball like us, so it should be a good game and it's already one we're really looking forward to."
