Saints Visit St Michael's School

The lads of Saint Michael's school were graced by unexpected visitors Thursday morning in the form of St Patrick's Athletic F.C. Coach John McDonnell and goalkeeper Brendan Clarke.

In efforts to raise money for sports supplies for the school, students paid €2 in exchange for wearing an athletic jersey from a team of their choice. John and Brendan were elated to see some of the lads donning Pats' gear.

Manager John McDonnell had plenty of advice to give to the potential future footballers. "When you're in this classroom, you act as a team", John McDonnell stated, "and your teacher is your coach!"

Brendan Clarke, an alumnus of St Michaels himself, provided a perfect example of what can be accomplished with a great education and hard work. Brendan's presence enforced the message that professional athletes work hard on and off the pitch. Both students and Pats alike enjoyed the visit, and the team looks forward to continuing relationships with the local school community throughout the season.
