16’S INTO LAST 32 OF ALL-IRELAND CUP
OUR UNDER 16'S BOOKED a place in the open draw of the All Ireland Cup against Mullingar Athletic following their narrow 2-1 win over St Mary's Boys in a well contested encounter.
This Sunday at 1:30 in Brickfields the 16s take the next step in their quest for All Ireland glory. The players and management would love to see as many supporters as possible there to cheer on the club's emerging talent.
Last Sunday in their game in the previous round against St Mary's Boys an upset seemed on the cards after 8 minutes when the Major Division outfit took a deserved lead. St Mary's play in the open exchanges was deservedly rewarded when Lee Doyle's sweet half volley flew into the roof of the Pat's net. Mary's then nearly doubled their advantage as another Doyle shot blasted goal ward, but the crossbar came to the rescue of the stranded Pat's goalkeeper James Byrne.
Pat's had struggled from the start to match the yellow shirted Mary's, but during a five minute spell redeemed themselves.
Andy Haran on 40 minutes put the Inchicore Saints level, and with seconds to go until the break a surging run by Barry Kenny found Noel Haverty and his superb header beat Andy McNulty in the Mary's goal.
The Sandyford side had no answer to that blow and the Inchicore Saints took their place in the next round.
See these budding Saints in action @ 1:30 this Sunday in BRICKFIELDS
All support welcome!
