Saints In Irish Action

St Patrick's Athletic under 19 stars Tom Mulroney and Jack Bayly both featured for the Republic of Ireland at under 19 and school levels respectively yesterday.

Mulroney played in central midfield for Paul Doolin's side in a friendly against Romania which the Republic of Ireland drew 2-2, Irish captain Sam Byrne with both notching both goals to earn a share of the spoils. Saints' player Mulroney played 54 minutes, eventually replaced by Sheffield Wednesday's Connor Dimaio.

17 year old Bayly meanwhile started for the Republic of Ireland schools side in Wrexham, Wales as they defeated their Welsh counterparts 3-0 in the Centenary shield.

Former Cherry Orchard man Bayly, who played in a wide midfield role, played a part in Ireland's first goal for Craig Donnellan, before the Irish ran out comfortable winners.

The next game up for the Irish is Northern Ireland in the competition.

Everyone at St Patrick's Athletic would like to congratulate Tom and Jack in representing their country.
