Stalemate In Sligo

Liam Buckley's St Patrick's Athletic side left the Showgrounds with a share of the spoils after playing out a 1-1 draw with league champions Sligo Rovers this afternoon.

The Saints took an early lead after 16 minutes as a long kick forward from keeper Brendan Clarke was latched onto by Anto Flood, before the striker finished past Gary Rogers.

The Saints' goal was under pressure for large parts of the game thereafter, however Brendan Clarke was equal to any threat posed.

However in the 82nd minute, former Saint Evan McMillan scored from close range from a Sligo set-piece to level the game and earn a point for the home side.

The result now sees Liam Buckley's side top of Airtricity League, four points ahead of their nearest rivals Sligo Rovers, Derry City and Dundalk on 39 points.
