Saints Link Up With The Joe Kavanagh Foundation
St Patrick's Athletic Football Club is delighted with the new link with the Joe Kavanagh Foundation.
We feel this is an important charity to be involved with especially with the increasing incidences of cardiac problems amongst athletes.
As part of the partnership, the Foundation has kindly donated a defibrillator and CPR training to St Patrick's Athletic.
We are delighted that the Foundation will be the official match sponsors for St Patrick's Athletic V Shamrock Rovers in Richmond Park on the 6th April at 7.05pm.
Joe Kavanagh Foundation
The family and friends of Joe Kavanagh set up this Foundation following his sudden death at the age of 47.
Joe's death was a huge shock to everyone that knew him as he had led an extremely healthy lifestyle.
He was exceptionally fit having been heavily involved in sport all his life, particularly basketball.
Joe collapsed at the start of a training session in the gym from Ventricular Arrhythmia (fatal irregular heartbeat).
If there had of been a defibrillator in the gym Joe's chances of survival would have been significantly increased.
The aim of the Foundation is to reduce the incidence of Sudden Cardiac Death by highlighting the importance of having a defibrillator on site.
We also encourage people to learn CPR in the event that they may be in a position to save someone's life.
How You Can Help
Encourage your sports club, workplace or community to install a defibrillator and to run a training course. To contact us for support please visit our website at www.joekavanaghfoundation.com.
