Report: Saints 1.0 Dundalk

Pete Mahon's St Patrick's Athletic stormed back to the top of the Premier Division after a hard fought, full-blooded contest before a packed Richmond Park tonight.

An early Paul Byrne goal was enough to see Saints leapfrog their visitors and regain first place, despite having David McAllister sent off before half time when referee Declan Hanney showed the Saints no. 7 a straight red card for an off the ball challenge on his opposite number, Stephen Maher.

Dundalk threw everything at the home side in the second half but were largely restricted to long range efforts and Saints continued to look dangerous on the break.

The men in red and white now look forward to the visit of Bray Wanderers on Monday in the EA Sports Cup.
