FINGAL TO POSE SERIOUS TEST FOR SAINTS

St Patrick's Athletic hope to continue their great start to the season this Friday night when they host Premier division newcomers Sporting Fingal in Richmond Park.

This will be the first ever League meeting between the sides though the teams did meet in the FAI Cup in 2008 with St Pat's winning 2-0 after a replay.

While the Saints' defence has yet to concede a goal this season, they will face tough opposition against Fingal's top strikers Eamon Zayed and Gary O' Neill.

Indeed former Pat's striker O'Neill has scored four goals in four games and has helped Fingal climb to fourth place in the Premier Division.

O'Neill is just one of a number of former Pat's players in the Sporting squad which also includes Brendan Clarke, Alan Kirby and Stephen Paisley.

St Pat's have no suspensions and Pete Mahon's only injury concern is captain Damian Lynch who is struggling with a thigh strain.

Manager's Comment

“Sporting must be the strongest promoted sides for many a year and their team is littered with players who have won top honours.

I'm very familiar with some of the players at Liam Buckley's disposal because they played under me at UCD and I'm delighted to see them doping so well.

Apart from the unlucky defeat to Bohemians on the opening day, Sporting have been in fine form and we know we're in for a serious test” - Pete Mahon.

St. Pats V Sporting Fingal kicks off at the earlier time of 7.35pm on Friday 2nd April in Richmond Park. Tickets are on sale n
