DUNDALK WIN COMES AT A PRICE

Friday's win over Dundalk came at a big price to the St Pat's team with serious injuries to both midfielder Gary Dempsey and forward Mark Leech.

Gary Dempsey had a bad tear to ligaments on his ankle and sustained a broken fibula. An operation involving corrective surgery was required and it is expected that Gary will be back in action in July or August.

Mark Leech received a break just above his right ankle which also required surgery and is expected to have a similar recovery period.

Club physio Mick Spillane told stpatsfc.com:

“In my 20 years experience in sport I have never encountered two lower leg breaks in the same game and from the same team, it is highly unusual and very unfortunate”.

On behalf of both players, the club and staff would like to thank all supporters who inquired on their behalf and we join you in wishing Gary and Mark a successful and speedy recovery.
