LANGAN SUPPORTING SAINTS

Former Cherry Orchard and Republic of Ireland defender Dave Langan, who has just been awarded a tribute dinner by the FAI for achieving 26 caps for his country, is behind the Saints in their quest for further European glory as they take on Hertha Berlin on Tuesday at the RDS, a venue close to where the Ringsend native grew up.

Dave graced the colours of Ballyfermot's Cherry Orchard before moving to Derby County and glimpsed Richmond Park from the top deck of the 78 as he made his way to games and training and took the time this weekend to wish the Saints well.

He said "I was delighted to hear how well St Pats are doing in Europe this year. It has been a tremendous achievement, beating some good teams along the way and playing extremely well against a top German team.

"With a good performance and the backing of a good crowd I am sure they can push Hertha all the way in the home leg.

"I'd like to wish St. Pats and their fans all the best in Europe and domestic competitions and long may it continue this year and the following", he finished.

Dave's tribute dinner will take place on Saturday 11 October in Dublin's Burlington Hotel. Further detals here http://www.fai.ie/davelangan/
