WHELAN WISHING FOR SAINTS VICTORY
He has impressed, both supporters and media in his two recent outings for the Republic of Ireland, scoring on his senior competitive debut away against Montenegro, but Clondalkin's Glenn Whelan fondly remembers his Friday nights in Richmond Park.
"A few schoolmates and myself used to get the 78A down to Inchicore for Pats games when I was younger.
"I have many fond memories and experiences of the games there. It's has been great to see Pat's do so well this season in Europe", he told stpatsfc.com on Friday.
"When i first came to England I was at Manchester City with Stephen Paisley and played with and against many of the other players both at home as a schoolboy and over here at reserve as well as at underage international level".
"I've only seen the highlights of the UEFA Cup games on TV and have been impressed with the quality of football played by St Pat's and their fightback to defeat IF Elfsborg in particular"
"Please pass on my best wishes to everyone associated with the club on Tuesday night. Like everyone else I can only hope we can pull back the two goals and make a real game of it against Hertha Berlin and make the group stages of the UEFA Cup", he finished.
