ST PATS V. DROGHEDA

St Patrick's Athletic will be looking to close the gap on league leaders Bohemians when they face league champions Drogheda United this Sunday in Richmond Park.

Manager John McDonnell is without the suspended pair of Derek O'Brien and Dave Rogers but Jason Gavin is available having served a one match ban in last week's victory over UCD.

Gary O'Neill remains sidelined with a groin injury while defender Dave Partridge continues his rehabilitation from a wrist injury.

New signing John Murphy has trained with his new team mates this week and will be available for selection.

The Club have also completed the signing of former LA Galaxy goalkeeper Lance Friesz on a free transfer. Friesz will compete with Barry Ryan for the number 1 jersey as Brendan Clarke has joined Sporting Fingal on loan until the end of the season.

The Saints will be looking for their fourth clean sheet in succession having kept Cork City, JFK Olimps and UCD at bay in their last three outings and McDonnell has been pleased with his side.

“We had a three nil win last week and we have to have confidence in the players who were involved in that. We're always looking to keep clean sheets but it was important to get the three goals.

“Jason Gavin comes back into the squad after suspension and John Murphy comes in as well so there's competition for places all over the pitch.

“Drogheda did well in Europe during the week and they'll be coming back on a high and we're aware of that. But we know we're ok and we know what we're capable of so we'll look forward to the game on Sunday.”

Tickets for the game are available from Richmond Park or by calling the Ticket Line on (01) 4546332.
