AN OVERVIEW OF OLIMPS - OUR UEFA OPPONENTS
• Founded in 2005, Olimps play in the Virsliga the top division in Latvia football.
• Olimps play in the Faugava Stadium in Riga which has a capacity of 5,000.
• Their home strip is all red and away strip in all blue.
• They finnished 8th and last in their league in 2007 but they retained their position in the top league as it was expanded from eight to 10 teams.
• Currently they are in ninth position in the Virsliga with 7 points from 13 games played.
• Their last five league games are as follows:
25/05 v Skonto (H) 0-1
07/06 v Daugava (A) 1-3
14/06 v SK Liepajas Metalurgs (A) 1-1
25/06 v Dinaburg (H) 0-2
30/06 v FK Jûrmala (A)
• Their team is largely made up of Latvian players though they do have players from a number of other countries including Brazil.
• This will be their first time to play in the UEFA Cup, Olimps qualified to play in this season's UEFA Cup by getting to the 2007 Latvian Cup Final which they lost 3-0 to FK Ventspils.
• In the 2008 UEFA Country Football Rankings Latvia is ranked 31st and Ireland is ranked 35th.
