GIRLS TABLETOPPERS

AS THE DDSL SEASON DRAWS TO A CLOSE our Ladies Intermediate side kicked off their campaign in the DWSL. The Ladies gained promotion last season having finished joint runners up with Allenwood.

Their first game away to Lucan United saw the Pat's girls hit the ground running. They sailed into a 2-0 halftime lead and continued in the same vein in the second half adding a further two goals to run out worthy 4-0 winners.

Manager Anto Healy was delighted with the performance, “We worked hard tonight and it was great to see the reward at the end of the game. It was a good performance but I'm sure we will face tougher games ahead but we are another year together and it is looking good provided we keep our momentum.”

“I think the difference has been getting a keeper and Leane MCDonnell's return has given the team the boost it needed. She is a good keeper and with former ladies Irish international goalkeeper Mo Darcy coaching her she is ready to go another stage further.”

The girl's next game was at home to Allenwood and it showed how much the girls have advanced this year already. Taking the game to their opponents from the outset another big win was engineered with Pat's winning 5-0, including a hatrick from Ashling Wood.

Healy opinioned, “It was another great performance, with some really quality goals. It's great to get off to a good start and hopefully we can build on it. We were promoted last season with Allenwood, so it was nice to get the win against them.

“This squad is developing nicely and the new players are settling in well. We welcomed former Saints marketing manager Simone Freeman back to Pat's fold and the squad looks very strong this year,” finished Healy.
