SCORELESS WITH CRUMLIN

In an entertaining local derby in Brickfields Pats Under 13's played out a scoreless draw with Crumlin United. Facing a stiff breeze in the first half Pats defended bravely.

Crumlin missed a gilt edge chance when a ball over the top was bravely saved by the Saint's keeper Martin Carroll only for the ball to ricochet to an advancing Crumlin forward. His first time effort was brilliantly kicked off the line by Gareth Byrne's diving interception.

Pats best chance of the half fell to Danny O'Leary following great play down the Crumlin right wing. Keifer Byrne fed Aaron Oliver whose cross was just knocked over the crossbar by O'Leary.

In the second half with wind now at their backs Pats were able to put Crumlin under more pressure. Following slick play between Derrek Warren and Karl Tims, Aaron Oliver was almost sent through a poor touch let the Saint's striker down.

Craig Smithers almost snatched the game at the end when he rose highest at a corner to narrowly head over the bar. All in all a draw was a fair result.
