15A's BOUNCE BACK

AFTER THEIR DISAPPOINTING exit from the Frank Cox Cup St Patrick's Athletic 15A's bounced back in their league game away to Valeview Shankill at the weekend. It was the character manager Brian Gardener wanted but his lads had to do it the hard way.

Storming into a two nil lead through goals from top scorer Martin Staunton and the pacy Troy Forte the Saints were cruising at halftime.

Then it was a case of semi final déjà vue as "The Vale" fought back to level at two all.

Disaster struck minutes later when Valeview were awarded a penalty.

This was the moment... would the Saints show their character or would they fall away?

Saints keeper Mark Coleman saved brilliantly and it was the catalyst for the Saints to throw everthing forward in search of the win.

The Saints attacking adventure was finally rewarded when Troy Forte notched his second of the game outpacing the opposition defence. The 3-2 win keeps Pats in serious contention for league honours.
