Saints Win Last Setanta Group Match
St Pat's defeated Portadown 3-0 tonight at Shamrock Rock in their final Group match of the Setanta Cup.
Eamonn Lynch opened the scoring for the Saints, his first competitive goal for the Saints, and a brace from Sean O'Connor sealed the win.
Brendan Clarke, making his first appearance of the season, saved a penalty during the second half.
The Saints' record of 5 wins and 1 draw in their first appearance in the competition has surpassed many other teams' cumulative records in the competition over the last three season, such as Derry City (2W 6D 3L), Dungannon Swifts (1W 5D 6L), Glentoran (3W 2D 10L) Longford Town (2W 0D 2L), Portadown (1W 7D 8L) and Shelbourne (4W 4D 4L).
Only Cork City and Linfield who have each made three appearances in the competition, and Drogheda United who have appeared twice can boast better records than the Saints.
Cork and Linfield are also the only teams to have scored more goals than the Saints.
