SAINTS TO FACE BARCA TEST
OUR UNDER 12’S are away the weekend of April 20th in Barcelona. They will be participating in the invitational “Internacional Cup”. It will be a round robin tournament between FC Barcelona, Colegio Internacional de Europa and St Patrick’s Athletic.
It will be a wonderful opportunity for this young side to pit their skills against their European cousins. A lot of work has gone into organising the trip and special thanks must go to Gerry and Julie Patchell, Tommo Byrne, Fiona Smithers, Rose Warren, Melissa Bynre and Liam O’Brien among the many others.
The games will take place on Saturday 21st in Colegio Internacional de Europa’s wonderful complex. The pitch is a state of the art artificial pitch.
The team are really looking forward to their match with FC Barcelona and are excited at the prospect of playing the Under 12 side of one of Europe’s premier clubs.
The team fly out Friday week and will be staying just south of Barcelona.
Manager Ben Smithers wanted to say a special thank you for the sponsorship of TOOLFAST. “Brian James helped secure vital sponsorship from TOOLFAST at the start of the season which kitted out the team in training gear of tops, shorts and socks,” explained Smithers, “when Brian told them of the trip to Barcelona TOOLFAST were only too delighted to sponsor sports bags for all the squad including those not travelling.”
