Saints Defeat Derry At The Brandywell

In form Saints' midfielder, Anthony Murphy, scored his third league goal in as many games as St Pat's left the Brandywell with all 3 points.

The match between the two sides was a repeat of last year's epic FAI Cup Final, but despite only one goal, the game was a great advertisement for the League and supporters at Brandywell and watching on TV were not disappointed.

St Pat's dominated the game and broke the deadlock minutes before half-time. A John Frost corner was met by Murphy who rose highest to head past Pat Jennings in the home net.

Jennings had twice denied Mark Quigley with two fine saves prior to the goal, and also Quigley again and Sean O'Connor in the second half.

The win sees the Saints continue their 100% start of the season and the busy schedule continues with 3 homes games in a week, Dungannon (Monday), Bray Wanderers (Friday) and Cork City (Monday week).
