Sean McHale joined the St Patrick's Athletic u17s from Shelbourne in January 2022 before quickly progressing to U19s and was part of our U19 League winning side that season.

The centre-back made his senior debut for the club in the Leinster Senior Cup v Wexford in Janaury 2023 and also featured in that competition against Usher Celtic.

Sean joined Wexford FC on loan ahead of the 2024 season and helped them make it all the way to the Sports Direct FAI Cup Semi-Finals, unfortunately losing at Drogheda United.

He also helped his loan club to the Relegation/Promotion Play-Off Semi-Finals. Sean scored twice in 29 games for Wexford.

McHale (now 20), continued his development on loan at Dundalk last season and was part of The Lilywhites 2025 LOI First Division winning side. Sean's season prematurely came to an end in July after an ankle injury. He returned to action in pre-season 2026.

The left-footer has been capped by the Republic of Ireland at U17s and U18s level and is combining full time football at St Pat's with a Scholarship at Maynoth University where he is undertaking a degree in Business and Geography.
