SAINTS RETURN TO LOUTH LOOKING FOR MORE OF THE SAME

St Patrick's Athletic make their second trip of the week to Louth tomorrow (Friday) to take on Drogheda United in the Airtricity League Premier Division at Hunky Dorys Park (kick off 7.45 pm).

The Saints defeated Dundalk by two goals to one on Monday evening in Oriel Park to move to second place in the league, three points behind Dublin rivals Shamrock Rovers.

The goals came from substitute Ian Daly and another from Danny North, who continued his recent free scoring record.

TEAM NEWS

Conor Kenna and Derek Pender remain out with knee and foot injuries respectively injury but Pete Mahon also has other defensive worries.

Evan McMillan missed Monday's game with a calf strain but may return after responding well to treatment. If he is declared fit it could be a timely return as Brian Shortall is suffering from a virus and is doubtful.

Anthony Murphy also missed Monday's game through illness but is expected to be fit.

Ian Daly and Shane McFaul made a big impact from the bench on Monday night and will be pushing for a start.

PETE MAHON

“It's going to be a tough match up in Drogheda as they are on a decent run in their last few games.

“They'll see this as a winnable match and we'll have to safeguard against any complacency creeping in.

“If we play well it is a winnable match for us also and if we play like we played in the second half in Dundalk then we'll give ourselves a great chance of picking up three points.

“The win on Monday kept us in touch with the top of the table and I've been saying for the past few weeks that the most important thing is stay within touching distance and give ourselves a chance.”
