McHale Returns From Sligo Loan
Sean McHale has returned to St Patrick's Athletic from his loan spell with Sligo Rovers.
The 21-year-old defender made 18 appearances for The Bit O'Red this season.
Sean joined our St Patrick's Athletic Academy in January 2022 has has had previous successful loan spells with Wexford FC (2024) making an FAI Cup Semi-Final & Dundalk FC (2025) where he was part of their First Division title win.
Manager Stephen Kenny said:
“We're delighted to welcome Sean back to the club and feel he is ready to make an impact in the final part of the season.
Sean has shown immense character to return from a bad injury at Dundalk last season. He has come back to perform at such a high level for Sligo Rovers in the Premier Division and that has been really exceptional.
He has played over 60 senior League of Ireland games during his loan spells at Wexford and Dundalk in the First Division and most recently with Sligo Rovers in the Premier Division, so he has good senior experience already.
Sean is a player who has come through our Academy, while also pursuing his education at Maynooth.
He can play anywhere across the back 3 and has developed really well physically over the last period of time, as well continuing to improve his attributes in possession, he is an excellent centre-back.
Sean is ready now to play senior football here and he can can have an important contribution this season and in future years for St Patrick's Athletic.
