Billy & Darren Dennehy Sign For Saints
St Patrick's Athletic are pleased to announce the signings of both Darren Dennehy and Billy Dennehy ahead of the 2016 SSE Airtricity League season.
Brothers Darren (27) and Billy (28) join the Saints having both played for Cork City last season and will add to Liam Buckley's options ahead of the 2016 season as the Saints aim to win silverware for a fourth successive season in a row.
Speaking to stpatsfc.com, Saints' manager Buckley revealed he was 'delighted' to have secured both players signatures for next season as he continues to build a squad to compete in 2016.
"I'm very pleased that we will have both the lads in our group next season. They will both strengthen our squad and help us compete for honours next season.
Darren has really developed over the last few seasons with Cork City and is a real physical presence in defence so we are excited to add him to the squad," Buckley told stpatsfc.com.
"Billy is a top professional and will be a good example to our younger players who can learn from him.
He has vast experience of playing in the league and in European competition too having been at Cork, Shamrock Rovers and Derry so we know he will be a great addition to our squad."
The Dennehys, who hail from Tralee, are not the first set of brothers to have featured for the Saints with former FAI Cup winning captain and league winner Tommy Dunne having featured for the club alongside Jimmy Dunne junior in the late 1950's.
Both players will hope to make their St Patrick's Athletic debuts in the SSE Airtricity League when the season opens on March 4, 2016.
