St Patrick's Athletic dumped holders Sporting Fingal out of the FAI Ford Cup with a 3-1 quarter-final victory at Richmond Park yesterday.
Pat's took the lead on 22 minutes when Ryan Guy dispossessed Kenny Browne and fired a fierce shot past Fingal goalkeeper Darren Quigley. Damian Lynch headed in the second for Pat's on 52 minutes but Shaun Williams pulled one back for Fingal a minute later with a long-range shot past Gary Rogers.
Fingal sub Glen Crowe's header on 73 minutes was ruled out by ref Richie Winter before Vinny Faherty met man-of-the-match Danny North's pass to curl in the Saints' third on 86 minutes.
Rovers book semi-final date
Last year's finalists Sligo Rovers are back in the semi-finals of the FAI Ford Cup after a 3-0 win over Monaghan last night.
Rovers took the lead at the Showgrounds on 25 minutes, when Conor McMahon handled in the area and Alan Keane fired home from the spot.
The second arrived just 30 seconds after the restart when Joseph Ndo capitalised on a mistake from a Monaghan defender and set up Romuald Boco to score from close range.
Substitute Mark McGoldrick put the icing on the cake with his first goal for the club in injury-time.
