Football fans are set for a weekend full of tantalising Cup action as the FAI Ford Cup competition enters its quarter-finals stage.
The games will be played over three nights, with two of the matches to be broadcast live on TG4.
Derry City and UCD will kick-off the last-eight ties on Friday night, while two matches – Longford Town v Limerick 37 and Waterford United v Cork City – will be held on Saturday night.
The remaining quarter-final will be played next Monday, September 24th when Bohemians travel across Dublin to face last season’s runners-up, St. Patrick’s Athletic.
Waterford United’s Daryl Kavanagh was named as ‘Player of the Round’ for Round Three on Monday.
He earned the coveted prize for his efforts in the Blues’ defeat of Sligo Rovers when, firstly, he was the creator of Waterford’s goal for Karl Bermingham in the 1-1 draw at the Regional Sports Centre before producing an outstanding display in the replay when the Blues’ finally conquered after a penalty shoot-out.
Kavanagh is currently injured and was, therefore, unable to collect his prize in Dublin on Monday. His team-mates, Robbie Hedderman and Ray Scully, were on hand to receive the award on his behalf.
