The Supersaints will be sighing a sigh of relief today was they were lucky to come away from the Brandywell with a point in a match they could have easily lost.
Having taken six points from six so far from Derry the omens were pointing towards a victory to the Supersaints but Derry had other ideas.
Derry who are still in contention with finishing third in the table had the better of the chances and if it wasn't for Trevor Wood who reacted smartly to a point-blank header from McCann and a solid central defence, St Patrick's could have had only a slim one point advantage at the top of the table.
As they see it they have a two point lead with Cork now facing Derry next weekend.
They will be looking for a better performance from the two strikers who failed to trouble Davy Platt in goals.
St Patrick's who gained the upper hand in the second half failed to hit the target as the large travelling support grew impatient.
